A home for your windows
A lightweight scrolling window manager for modern macOS, written in Swift, with integrations for tools and agents.
How it works
- The strip
- Each display has a row of columns that extends past its edges. A new window opens as a column beside the focused one. The other columns keep their widths.
- Scrolling
- When you focus a column, the strip scrolls only far enough to show it. You can choose to centre the focused column instead.
- Stacks and tabs
- A column can hold several windows, stacked from top to bottom or shown as tabs. Stack a window into the column beside it, or pop it out into a column of its own.
- Floating windows
- Windows with a fixed size, such as Calculator, float in front of the strip. You can float any window, or every window of an application.
- Displays and Spaces
- Each display and each Space has its own strip. A shortcut moves a window to the strip of the next display.
- Saved layout
- Maki saves the order and width of the columns, and restores them when it restarts.
Made for macOS
- Native and light
- Written in Swift, Maki uses 30 MB of memory and less than 0.5% of the CPU.
- A modern design
- Maki looks and feels like a part of macOS 26.
- A regular Mac app
- Maki uses only public macOS interfaces, so there is no need to disable System Integrity Protection.

Questions
What happens when the trial ends?
Window management stops until you activate a licence.

No. Maki uses only public macOS interfaces.
Does Maki work with several displays and Spaces?
Yes. Each display and each Space has its own strip. Turn on “Displays have separate Spaces” in Desktop & Dock.
